Sven’s a Swedish rookie who’s been turning more than a few heads over the last couple seasons thanks to his deep bag of tricks and tweak-laced Scandi style. Protest take an in-depth look at him, his roots and his riding.

There we were about to post part 2 of these pretty sick ‘From Here To There’ edits, when we realised we’d spaced out posting part 1. So, to be confusing, part 2 is above, part 1 is below and both are interesting and should deserve your attention.

Jonas is a rad Swedish gent who’s been shredding for 22 years and who has, for the last 3 winters, basically been living the dream of doing nothing but riding powder all season. Check this introduction to who he is and where his roots are. Interesting.

Jonas Hagstrom grew up with his ‘own’ back yard ski resort, run by his parents. Here’s where he started snowboarding 22 years ago in a time where there were no images or videos to watch and see how it was done. There was one thing he did know, he loved it! Catch up with what the comedy duo of Jonas Hagström ad Miikka Hast have been getting up to as their Protest Snowtour rolls on through Japan…

Yes, these are super lo-fi and, yes, they are quite long, but we still find ourselves hypntically drawn in to Miikka and Jonas’s splitboard hikings and pow ripping. In these latest three, they ride volcanoes, have another ‘best run of the season’, and score retarded amounts of pow.

As we have noted before, Jonas Hagström and Miikka Hast are living the goodlife this season. Scouring the alps all winter long with no other plan than to shred pow and document their adventures. Their web clips are on the low-fi side of things, but there’s something fully inspiring about them. Check the latest two episodes out.

The first is another splitboard odyssey on a bluebird day, while the second installment shows what happens when they leave a spot for a day – they get back and it’s dumped a metre and still falling, so it’s tree run time. Enjoy and get out there and bag some yourselves.

Don’t ask us how they managed to wangle this, but Miikka Hast and Jonas Hagström have once again convinced their sponsor, Protest, that the best way they could be promoting the brand is to cruise the mountains of the world snuffling out powder and filming it themselves. Lucky gits!

Though they film it all themselves on their digicams and GoPros and the quality is far from, say, The Art of Flight, it’s actually really stoke-worthy watching them manage to find good snow in what we’ve been told is supposed to be a barren winter. All it takes is a bit of dedication and some good old-fashioned legwork. Stoked, boys!

Here’s what Jonas had to say:

“Well, we are on a trip called the Protest Snowtour. We are on the road in Europe from 10th of Jan til 10 of March. Then we will finish it of in Baldface, Canada. Our mission is to go whereever it snows in Europa and ride, film, take pictures and make a videoblog. The blog can be found at protest.eu/snowtour.

We have been traveling to Switzerland, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Austria and now we are in Italy since 2 weeks. The last 13 days we have had 12 good pow days! And more snow is coming, so we are probably staying here.

The 18th and 19th are just two normal days at Protest Snowtour.”

The Protest World Rookie Tour rolls on to Vallnord in the Pyrenees this February, with some of the hottest groms in the area being drawn to this 3-star TTR event.

After a great kick off event in Livigno, Italy, the World Rookie Tour keep on rolling to the next stop in Vallnord, Andorra, from 17 to 20 february 2011 for the Swatch TTR 3Star Protest Pyrenees Rookie Fest.

“After the first edition in 2010, Vallnord and local organizer Aleks Sanz from WSS are now ready to upgrade the rookie fest in Andorra to a 3 star level. It will be a great experience for all West Europe rookies and snowboard fans! ” stated Marco Sampaoli from WSF.

The park that will host Protest Pyrenees Rookie Fest is made the by ASP SNOWPARKS, the best company in Spain. “Vallnord and ASP are stoked to have this event again after the great success of the last year. There’s a luck of snow in Andorra but the snowpark is great and it’s going to be awesome” stated Aleks Sanz, the organizer of the event.

Vallnord hosts high quality freestyle area and a special slopestyle will be presented for the Protest Pyrenees Rookie Fest. Don’t miss the second west european edition of the most famous youth event!
