The park in Gstaad was on point this season, and still is. Check some spring boardin’ from the local boys in this dope edit.

We all agree, the Snowpark Gstaad experienced a brilliant season. Not only many locals have taken the park to their heart, but few came from far away to witness the daily top shaped set up But everything comes to an end, therefore the Snowpark Gstaad hosted the final shooting with local hotshots like Phipu Hänni. Felix Höckel and Crisi Gaisberger! Thanks for an aweseome season and see you next year!

Max Gschwindt.
Even if spring keeps knocking on our doors, there’s no way we’ll put our twin tips to rest yet! Instead, we started a neat spring session with a bunch of shredheads, making sure that our media crew was covered with tons of sweet footage. The impressive result can be marveled at in the video edit and the bursting gallery!

Majestically covered with a touch of fresh snow, the MINI Snowpark Feldberg sparkled in the glow of the morning sun on this fine day in March. Idyllic in a way – if there hadn’t been park designer Kristof Heidmann & Co, who only seem to be shaping the park everyday anew out of one objective, and one objective only – to engage in a massive shred session and to destroy the park by every trick in the book! Well, that’s an intention we really dig, so we simply couldn’t wait to give the shape crew a hand on this smoking bluebird day. Sport Bohny Team Rider Marco Volz was also on the same page, so he grabbed Dimas Lauinger, Benedikt Baur, Gabriel Spalek, Max Gschwindt and their boards and headed straight for the best park in the Schwarzwald. For hours, both the park and our media crew were bombarded with a firework of sick jibs and spectacular spins. Even after their hundredth run, none of the riders showed the least sign of exhaustion – must be due to the fresh Schwarzwald air or something! What did show, however, were brightly grinning shredheads who simply couldn’t wait to hit the next run.

<img class="size-large wp-image-50392" alt="Kristoff Heidmann. Photo: Sebi Madlener/QParks

Local Marco Volz is especially stoked about the versatile setup that Kristof and his guys have conjured up into the slopes of the Feldberg – so we’ve grabbed him for a little interview at the end of the session:

Hi Marco! You’re up at the MINI Snowpark Feldberg on almost any weekend – how do you like this year’s setup? What do you think about the new MINI obstacles and the Bohny Wallride?
Yeah, I try to spend as much time as possible in the park, as long as my studies still allow me to do so. This year’s setup is just awesome and the jib line can compete with any other line in the Alps! Like every year, Kristof and his guys are doing an outstanding job, always giving it 100%. Many of the new MINI obstacles as well as the Bohny Wallride have been customized by Schneestern especially for the MINI Snowpark Feldberg – if that’s not more than enough reasons to shred as often as possible at the MINI Snowpark Feldberg!

What’s so special about the MINI Snowpark?
Even though you don’t see a lot of the guys during the (way too long!) summer time, at the season opening, it always feels like you’ve just spent the last Sunday shredding together. But to get away from all this emotional touchy-feely talk, the park is sick and has something in store for everyone! Additionally, the park has had the best kickers I’ve ever jumped in the Schwarzwald!

Together with the shape crew, you’ve made quite a few edits in this season – can we soon expect a spring edit?
We’ve been quite productive during the season and we’re definitely working on a spring edit! Here you get a little overview of the park in moving pictures – as well as the promised and upcoming spring edit!

<img class="size-large wp-image-50391" alt="Dimas Lauinger. Photo: Sebi Madlener/QParks

Well, do you feel the urge to pack your gear and head straight for the MINI Snowpark Feldberg? No?! Then maybe you should have a look at the impressive gallery, into which we’ve put the best snowboard shots of the day! Whoever’s still not motivated then should definitely watch the spectacular snowboard edit – and you’ll never wanna go home again!

Milan, Paris and New York set new trends on an almost daily basis. Even if those trends are occasionally more than questionable, there is no doubt about who is bringing up the new styles. You also get those fixed stars on the red carpet of style in snowboarding. That’s why the final of the 5th Hochkönig Style Championship Tour is once again on the QParks Tour agenda. On March 9th, 2013, it’s all about massive style, sizable prize money and precious points for the QParks Tour overall ranking at the Blue Tomato Kings Park Hochkönig in Mühlbach – It’s Time to Shine!

The 5th edition of the TTR 2* event, the Hochkönig Style Championship Tour, is once again part of the QParks Tour. Next to the title in the Hochkönig Style Championship Tour, the riders will battle for substantial prize money of altogether EUR 1.250.-, tons of goodies and precious points for the overall QParks Tour ranking. Like last year, the slopestyle contest will be completed by a “Best Trick” ranking, in which all snowboarders can snatch themselves some extra pocket money in the form of EUR 100,-! Naturally, a perfect contest day at the Blue Tomato Kings Park Hochkönig would be nothing without fresh beats and a delicious BBQ. You still think that’s not enough to pay the Blue Tomato Kingspark a visit on the 9th of March? Well then, let Flo Galler, winner of the last Hochkönig Style Championship, give you a few more reasons, why you couldn’t possibly say no this event!

„The Hochkönig Style Championship was an awesome contest, the starting grid was packed with friends of mine and speaker Felix Prankl did a staggering job entertaining the crowd. And to top it all off, the audience was treated to a freestyle rap performance by Jonel Fricke! The Style Championship is definitely worth a visit, at the very least for its unique atmosphere.” Asked if he thought he will be able to defend his title this year – considering that he spent his entire summer surfing – Flo adds: „Snowboarding’s like riding a bike, you can’t forget how to do it / you can’t unlearn it.”

Timetable:

Tons of creative obstacles provide for massive park action, as you can see in the fresh video clip from the park check shooting! Of course, we also put the best shots of the day into a snappy photo gallery!

<img class="size-full wp-image-48126" alt="Angelo Gastl.
Every year, the Almdudler Snowpark Sölden impresses with a setup that is second to none. And every year, we are prone to believe that it can’t get any better than this. Well, and every year anew, park designer Christoph Schöpf and his crew prove to us how wrong we were in our assumption. And the season 2012/13 is no exception to this rule. Be it the Oakley Box, the Almdudler Jibcan or the massive kickers of the now complete Pro Line, it never gets boring! And since the park is finally shining in all its glory, it’s time for the eagerly anticipated park check!

<img class="size-full wp-image-48125" alt="Yes, this is the Almdudler Snowpark Sölden. Photo: Rudi Wyhlidal/QParks

Naturally, Christoph and his men are always as keen as mustard to have a nice session in their park, so they invited a whole armada of riders to the Almdudler Snowpark Sölden to put the new setup to the quality test. For hours, snowboarders Jonel Fricke, Angelo Gastl, Daniel Moesel and Max De Boer hit one run after the other. And the guys were more than impressed by the creativity of the new setup! We grabbed snowboarder Jonel Fricke for a little interview:

Hi Jonel! How do you like this year’s setup? Have you found your favorite obstacle yet?
Like every year, the setup is simply a delight. My favorites are the pro kicker line and the obstacles in the pro rail line.
What distinguishes the Almdudler Snowpark Sölden from other parks? Why is it the ideal home base?
Its creativity definitely distinguishes it from other parks. There are numerous imaginative obstacles that are not to be found just everywhere. Additionally, the setup is perfectly shaped on a daily basis!

Daniel Mösl Photo: Rudi Wyhlidal/QParks

You used to work as shaper in Sölden. What was your shaper-life like? Would you consider a comeback?
I had an awesome time being a shaper in Sölden! I can only recommend it. The guys are pretty relaxed and life in Sölden is great fun! Concerning a comeback: sure, anytime.
In your opinion, what makes a good rider? Does he need to be an all-rounder, or should he specialize in one field like park, powder, street, etc. How important are contests in this decision?
A good rider is anyone, who uses his head when shredding, rides responsibly and knows, what he can handle. I think that you shouldn’t concentrate on just one aspect of snowboarding, but get to know the whole diversity of shredding. Regarding contests, I don’t believe a rider should be judged solely by his contest victories. I’m convinced that video clips tell you much more about the skills of a rider and if he’s good or not.

Jonel Fricke Photo: Rudi Wyhlidal/QParks

Now you’ve heard it, the new setup’s rocking this winter pro style! To get an idea of what we’re talking about, and check out the video edit we put together from the park check shooting. In the clip, park designer Christoph Schöpf guides you personally through the new setup.
The very first jib contest in Feldberg’s history – took place last weekend at bluebird and ideal conditions

We proudly present: the Jib Masters 2013!

The Bohny Masters Feldberg powered by MINI – the very first jib contest in Feldberg’s history – took place last weekend at bluebird and ideal conditions. Newscommers and familiar faces battled for fame and glory and pulled out spectacular tricks. Philipp Scherzinger managed to defend his title in the category Snowboard Men.

While featuring a kicker setup last year, it was decided to hold the event as a pure jib contest this year. Two contest lines with 4 jib obstacles each as well as a sick multi-jib end section were to choose from. The setup offered the riders numerous possibilities to let their creativity run wild – and that’s exactly what they did. They crossed off one trick after the other from the trick list and thus proved one point for sure: the winners may rightly call themselves “Jib Masters 2013”.

This year, the QParks Tour stop at the Feldberg was the stage for two successful title defenses. In the category Snowboard Men, the reigning champion was successful in defending his title against the highly motivated competitors and, at the end of the day, deservedly cashed in the victory together with 450,- cash. The Schwarzwald local Philipp Scherzinger prevailed in both of the final runs in the Snowboard Men category with impressive tricks such as a “Cab 180 gap 50-50” on the double kink rail and a spectacular “fs 3 bong” on the MINI Jib Pole. This year’s Bohny Masters Feldberg powered by MINI was a complete success for the defending champion: “Awesome contest, great snow, amazing setup. As it was a pure jib contest, this victory means a lot more to me, since I usually prefer to rider kickers. I’m really happy that I was able to defend my title!”

The second place went to Fabian Wolfsgruber from Salzburg, who also managed to grab the Best Trick Award with a “halfcap 180 bs 180 indie grab out” on the MINI High Rail. Fabian was quite satisfied with the fact that the fourth QParks Tour Stop was a pure jib contest: “I really like jibbing and I think everybody enjoyed focusing only on jibs for a change. The park was in good shape, the weather was nice and the people were really committed, so you really can’t ask for more!” Germany’s Matt Vogt came in third in the Snowboard Men category.

Battle ROJal winner Daniela Kaindl was superior among the Snowboard Ladies at the Feldberg and carried off the victory. Following the girl from Innsbruck on the winners’ podium were Suma Sonkoy Mamani Bath from Germany and the Dutch Babs Barnhoorn.

The guys from Germany had the Rookies category firmly under control: Raphael Bärmann managed to beat his competitors Jim Kunz and Fabian Knözinger.

One to rule them all – 100% STANTON PARK
Several tons of finest snow, thousands hours of work, hundreds of pounds of metal and plastic, countless cans of energy drinks and way to little sleep – but the result is nothing to sneeze at! The STANTON PARK is finally complete and is showing itself at its best! A total of 4 areas bring the shred fun onto the next level and leaves nothing left to be desired! What that looks like can be seen in the sweet video edit and the gallery we’ve compiled for you!

<img class="size-full wp-image-46921" alt="David Loibl getting a press on in Stanton Park. Photo: Katja Pokorn/QParks

The STANTON PARK impresses with altogether 28 obstacles this year, and these fellas will put a smile to the faces of even the most demanding shredheadz among you. Park designer Rene Friedl and his shape crew have once again dug out quite some surprises from their obstacle box and taken with them to the Arlberg. For all rookies and future pros, the Kids Park and Beginner Area have pretty much to offer – training possibilities en masse! The Medium Area consists mostly of rails and tubes and becomes thus a real paradise for all jibbers. But also the airtime nerds will get their money’s worth since four kickers with tables between 5 and 8 meters spoil you with more than enough jump material. In the Pro Area, you can put the final touch to your skills: a straight tube, two kickers with 12 and 15 meters and a massive wallride at the end of the park will provide for finest shred action.

Sounds too good to be true? Well, good thing that Rene and his team are not that easily satisfied and invited a bunch of snowboard and freeski nuts to a little “park finished” session at the STANTON PARK to put the final setup to the shredability test. The snowboarders David Loibl, Daniel Erhart and Markus Wilhelmi followed the invitation to take a closer look at the STANTON PARK. After extensive sessions on kickers, boxes and rails, the riders unanimously came to the same satisfying conclusion: the park rocks! Naturally, such a resume was music to the ears of park designer Rene Friedl. After the session, we grabbed our chief in charge for a little interview and asked him about “his” STANTON PARK.

<img class="size-full wp-image-46920" alt="Daniel Erhart. Hi Rene! How was the Park Finished Shooting? Did everything go according to plan?
Yes, everything was perfect, we we’re really lucky with the weather. The weather forecast predicted bad conditions but we had a fine three hours of bluebird and the riders had their fun.
Are you happy with your work?
It is pretty good, my park, indeed.
What has changed with regard to last year? Do you like to stay with the tried and trusted or do you try to create the park anew every season?
The tried and trusted is of course always a way to go but we’ve got a few new obstacles this year and changed quite a bit actually. The up rail, that is the canon rail, is one of these new obstacles and the riders really like it and shred it all day long.

And again, Daniel Erhardt shot by Katja Pokorn/QParks.

Where do you get your ideas for a new setup?
From everywhere, from other parks, my guys, my shapers, literally everywhere.
You’ve been at the Arlberg quite a while now. What makes the STANTON PARK so special?
Certainly the park lift that is just as long as the park itself. Thus you can do a lot of runs in short period of time. For example, if it’s not too busy in the park, and you get to do your runs, then you’re done after two hours since one run takes you just as long as the lift ride.
Do you have the freedom as park designer to give free rein to your creativity or do you have to follow certain guidelines?
There are certain guidelines of course, like making certain jumps not higher than they’re supposed to. You’re also a little restricted when it comes to earth movements, which has a positive side though since you don’t need as much snow.
What is your personal highlight at the STANTON PARK?
My personal highlight is definitely the pro line. If I had to decide for a single obstacle, it would probably be the big kicker – but I really like everything in the park.
How has the scene developed over the years? Have the rider’s demands on the setup grown over the years?
Yes, definitely, I would say so. Especially with regard to the local scene and the guys that were still too young four years ago and are now in the park on a regular basis. They often approach me with new ideas and recommendations, and I always appreciate new input.
What does your ideal park look like?
My ideal snowpark offers something for everyone, especially with regard to kickers, rails and boxes. It should also have something in stock for kids and riders of all levels.

<img class="size-full wp-image-46918" alt="Daniel Erhardt hitting the wallride.
As you can see, the STANTON PARK is in capable hands that make sure that the park is always in neat condition. Best to assure yourself in person and put the new setup to your own quality inspection. To get you in the right mood and set you straight on what to look for exactly, we’ve compiled a sweet video edit, in which the boss introduces his park and the setup for all snowboard nerds out there. Of course we also don’t want you to miss out on the best shots of the day so we’ve put together a neat gallery for you.

The feeling of a big arena in front of breath-taking scenery coupled with a most innovative park design – once a true insiders’ tip, the STANTON Park has established itself as a true freestyle highlight over the last few seasons. So, if you not only want to enjoy endless powder runs, but are also looking for a masterly shaped setup, the STANTON Park is your place to be!
Winter is coming closer and just like last season the STANTON Park is getting ready for once again becoming the perfect playground for the freestyle community. The park-areal is perfectly accessible with two lifts, which means you can do loads of runs within a short time and literally shred till you drop! But the connection to the lifts isn’t the only thing making the location of the park perfect. For all of you who want to watch what’s going on in the park in a little more laid back manner, the Rendl terrace with its bars and restaurants will give you the perfect opportunity to chill and observe the pros doing their tricks. That’s also one of the aspects park designer Rene Friedl likes about the park: “From the huge terrace you’ve got a perfect view on what’s going on in the park – an absolutely phat location!”
4 Lines – 1 Mission: SHRED OR GO HOME

The crew headed by park designer Rene Friedl has put their heads together and will pull another spectacular park out of their sleeves this year. With an incredible diversity of lines and elements, this year’s setup knows how to impress riders at all skill levels: the beginner area offers numerous jumps and boxes for the young bloods. But also pro-riders will get their money’s worth with massive 12 – 14m jumps which guarantee airtime at its best. This winter’s setup will also see several novelties: the beginner area may look forward to a new 9m elephant box, the medium area will be extended by a 10m flat/down/flat box and in the advanced area, an 8m down/flat rail, a rainbow tube and a jump tube are only waiting to be shredded properly. With a total of 32 elements over a length of 320m, the STANTON PARK provides for tons of action and shred fun!

Let the Plays Begin!

Due to creative park elements and the unique arena-like feeling, the STANTON Park is a superlative contest location. Last season, at the legendary Kirschbaum Battle, the Freestyle Challenge was proclaimed, summoning not only local heroes from the snowboard and freeski scenes. More than 70 riders as well as countless freestyle fans met in a perfectly shaped STANTON Park, where it was ‘eat or get eaten’ – the riders stopped at nothing! Afterwards, however, everyone was partying together – as is the custom in the freestyle community. Rumours already exist that we’ll see another edition of the Kirschbaum Battle in the upcoming season!
