The resort of Hochkar makes the hearts of freestyle fans beat faster. A supremely shaped setup, great vibes and a perfect connection to the lifts make the park a real delicacy for all snowboarders. The Senoner’park on the Hochkar is especially popular amongst the local community and has firmly established itself within the scene! But not only park maniacs will get their money’s worth on the Hochkar, due to high snow levels freeriders will be satisfied as well and can go play in the backcountry. Exquisite tree runs and cliffs invite you to powder and guarantee freestyle pleasure deluxe!

Over the last two years the setup in the Senoner’park has been extended by first-class rails, boxes, as well as several jib elements. Also, this season the park family welcomes a few new innovations: a 6m Industry Cannon Pipe will be attached to a kicker as a Pole Jam and give you pure shred pleasure. On the Kinked Box Module, 6 meters in length, which will also shake up the park, everything’s possible from down-flat-down combinations to playful Donkey Outs. On an 8m long Doublepipe Rail combined with various connections, motivated shredders can push their rides to the next level! With these elements the shapecrew will have the opportunity to toy around, so you can look forward to creative reconstructions and a varied setup! From small boxes to sophisticated rail combinations – riders on all skill levels will meet their match. Thus, thanks to its size and equipment, the Senoner’park Hochkar will once again reign supreme amongst the best snowparks in the East Austrian Alps!

If you’re waiting for a chance to show off your skills mark the date of the Hochkar Open 2012, which will be part of the QParks Snowboard Tour. The popular contest will be held on January 28 2012 and will be one of this season’s highlights! The open competition will give all riders the chance to showcase their talent and skills in front of a jury and a motivated crowd. Additionally, several Special Shootings on larger elements are on this year’s agenda, similar to the Showman Shooting last season, allowing all shredders to show what they’ve got in film and photo sessions.

If you know the Hochkar, you also know that it’s perfect for some solid powdering. Apart from numerous open slopes and nice treeruns, you’ll also find a few good spots for powder kickers and similar backcountry pastimes. An insider tip for great treeruns is a route down the Leckerplan, which will award you with tons of powder. If you’re looking for another freeride experience, ask the locals about the ‘vegetable garden’ extending down the Häsing or the infamous ‘Löwengrube’ (lion’s den). You’ll get the adrenaline rush for free!
Party people are exquisitely cared for in the skiing resort Hochkar as well. There’s no better place to chill after a good shred session than the JoSchi Bar with its cosy, trendy atmosphere.

“What I like most is that on the Hochkar you can integrate many different obstacles into one run. Also, the resort is never too crowded and people know one another. It’s almost like a small family. To me, this year’s highlight was definitely our Frosty (snowman) who was used as a Special Obstacle and also made non-freestylers come to the mountain.”

Senonerpark Hochkar 2010 – Better Than Ever?

On Tuesday the 16th of February the QParks crew took their chance to realize the first film- and photoshooting in the Senonerpark Hochkar. Participants were Clemens and Felix Prankl, formerly known as P – Unit, the photographer Stefan Voitl, Jasmin Reischer and Dominik Weghaupt from the Bamboos, David Liptay and his friend from Budapest, Hochkar Open Winner Flo Galler, Georg Ischep alias Scheps, Flo Kirch and a lot more Senonerpark locals like Headshaper Shnorty and his gang.

QPark designer Bernd Mandlberger was overwhelmed after his last visit and talked in highest tones about the killer set up. Now it was time to make up our own opinion! As the chairlift runs directly over the park area, we recognized immediately that the rumours were true! The Senonerpark 09/10 simply rocks! All lines can be combined and the riders can easily switch between beginner, intermediate and pro elements! The park offers some well known obstacles but also some fresh and new ones like an A Frame and an elephant box.

But the most obvious change happened to the big kicker at the bottom as it rolls smoothly like never before and guarantees maximum airtime with minimum risk. The Styrian talent Flo Galler won the Hochkar open two weeks ago and continued to stomp trick after trick this time. He was happy and said: “Already at the Hochkar Open I really enjoyed the big Kicker, because it gives you a very controlled feeling in the air and it is not too big and therefore perfect to practice tricks. During the contest the weather was very foggy, so today I was pretty stoked to ride it again on this bluebird day”.

Big props also to Heimi, Smeul, and all other riders! All in all in was just a nice day with a lot of action on all elements, good vibes and a friendly atmosphere. Check the first clip and the shooting gallery. By the way, another rumour is building up at the Hochkar. People are talking about a big “H” or something like that…. Only time will tell!
