The Czech scene’s season ender-bender went off as usual in Spindleruv Mlyn, with a Mexican theme, a killer park setup, some solid riding and Czech-style partying. Check the video…

The event is over. The sixth edition of BURTON ŠPINDL SPRING SESSIONS brought crazy weather, high quality riding and a lot of spectators creating the atmosphere not only at the slopes, but also at the parties and concerts in party tent. Tomáš Tuzar /CZE/, Hans Kestila /FIN/ and Roman Dlauhý /CZE/ were honored as the best riders of the event.

The biggest Czech snow resort – Skiareál Špindlerův Mlýn – had been attacked by participants of BSSS from the middle of the week, as accreditation began. This year, they had more than 120 riders and the same number of media represents from various European countries as well as from exotic Lebanon.

Thursday was the first day of the event and the riders competed in big air with SKULLCANDY BIG AIR FORTUNE. The system of this competition was that each of the riders gets drawn a trick from the Wheel of Fortune, which they have to perform afterward. From the starting list, the first two places were taken by riders from Finland, the bronze being won by the Czech competitor. Friday and Saturday had a heli buzzing the course filming, so the riders were training and doing their best to get some points for overall results. For Friday, there was not any official contest planned, for Saturday, they’d prepared the BURTON KEMP PUBLIC JAM and ČESKÁ POJIŠŤOVNA CORNER SESSION. Public interest in the public contest was huge, there were more than 100 participating riders and according the information from the judges, some of them are just a step from becoming the professionals.

The weather conditions did not allow the corner session on Saturday, so it was moved over to Sunday which was definitely a good decision. The snow conditions were excellent, so the riders had enough speed to send it long and high and therefore to show their best tricks. From the starting list, the best were Jan Nečas in “best trick” and Jan Zajíc in “best air”, each of them won 1.000 EUR from the main partner of the contest, Česká Pojišťovna.

As soon as the ČESKÁ POJIŠŤOVNA CORNER SESSION was over, the riders, media and spectators join the prize-giving ceremony, which was held right at the end of the snowpark. Every year at the end of the season, the Czech guys build a beast of a park, throw a bunch of Jäger-fuelled parties and invite riders from across the world to be part of the good times. As ever, the riders slayed it on the killer kickers and monster hip and were shadowed by dudes filming in helicopters. Watch what went down.

More than 150 invited riders from 15 countries beelined to the Czech resort of Špindleruv Mlyn for a long weekend of awesome riding, including Ville Uotila, Niels Shack, Tomas Tuzar and more. It’s a little ong but worth the watch, if only for the heli shots, the hip session and the fact that the Wheel of Fortune is one kick-ass contest concept.

Russian rail ripper Denis Leontyev is so tech on the jibs, we honestly can’t be bothered to slo-mo the tricks to break it down and be able to give them names. Check out this clip from the recent Burton Spindl Spring Sessions 2011 in Czech Republic. Mind blowing.

Snowboarding has been taking not of this Russian dome kid since he slayed the competition at the Nike 6.0 Stairset Battle in Finland. Seemingly out of nowhere, the gnome-like Forum rider blew minds with his retarded precision, spinning on and off rails like it was a video game.

He’s been putting it about in Europe more this season, hitting up the Air&Style Munich‘s jib setup, the Ride Shakedown Europe and Head’s recent Jib Factory. He also headed east to Burton Spindl Spring Sessions 2011 in Czech Republic, where this clip was shot.

Really, this is pretty funny. The first couple runs it’s like, “Wow, it looks like me riding. Badly.” With his distinctive style of low-slung pants and XXXL jacket, we were reminded a little of Eero Ettala’s Sumo Shred skit as he’s minishredding. But then he hits the jib section with results that will melt your mind. Check it.
