The crew at Fiss Ladis have set up what they’ve aptly dubbed a ‘Fun Area’ – a zone packed with jibs and small hits for goodtime sessions. Patrick Held, Joe Greiter, Leo Klinec, Berni Kraxner, Roli Tschoder, Mary Luggen and Fabian Fraidl simply destroy the first set up that the park crew established for the first shoot of the winter!

We hit up Kitzsteinhorn last season to shoot a spotcheck for our dead tree edition and were blown away by how the park setup had come on since our last visit a few years before. It’s one of those places where there’s something for every level of freestyle rider to have a pop at: from mellow jibs and jumps, to creative up-and-down sections, to mid-sized kickers and rails all the way up to the pro-line which is as boom-worthy as you’ll find on European shores. All this plus they have a killer superpipe and are at an elevation where you can guarantee conditions will be good till late in the season.

We want to go back there now and, after you’ve watched this, we’re sure you’re frothing to hit it up too. Hell, even if you’re bearded freeride dude there’s some epic pow runs to be had in that resort…

QParks have created another belter of a snowpark in Sölden this season, and they’ve chopped together this neat edit of a couple of locals shralping their way through it so you can see what features they’ve got waiting for you to hit up.

Thomas Hoerhager & Dominik Brunner show us the setup in the Swatch Snowpark Soelden. Pretty early in the season they ride the Beginner and Medium lines and use the elements to get in shape for the upcoming season. Check the brand new snowpark-soelden.com

Unless our remedial German skills have failed us once more, Schöneben translates literally as ‘just beautiful’ – and it looks like a fitting name for this mellow QParks creation in the Sud Tirolian Italian alps. Sure, there’s no 25m megabooters but what there is is plenty of well-groomed freestylin’ features for all-comers. Have a look at what they got.

The new season set to kick off in Sölden and the QParks crew are busy shaping the new park for 2010/11, with temperatures dropping steadily and things coming together nicely. Time to take a look back to last year’s best shots with the brand-new Swatch Snowpark Soelden Highlights Clip 2009/10. As you’ll see, not only is it good for the likes of Werni Stock to throw monster front 10s and double backies off the über wedge, there’s plenty in there for regular Joe shredders to enjoy too. Check it.

The Dutch the Qmedia Crew and a bunch of local riders rocked up to the Snowpark Fiss Ladis to get it on on the pro and medium obstacles. What follows is a short review and additional weather news as well as important information on the Oberland Open.

Photographer Roland Haschka, filmer Basti Funk and riders from Salzburg (Daniel Limmer and Christoph Hetteger) met some locals – Gill Rhyner, Maurus Zürcher and Ralf Heeb – and pushed themselves to the next level in Fiss Ladis’s terrain park.

“We all had an extremely good day in the park. The riders particularly enjoyed the table top,” explained Ralf. The weather conditions, however, were less than ideal: “It was a mix of clouds, sun and strong gusts or wind,” says Migl – head of the media crew. After the shooters arrived in the park, the riders started sessioning the rails and boxes. The tricks varied as much as the obstacles (from rainbow box to a streetrail setup) – and stoked the riders out. “There were some gnarly tricks among them. The toughest came from Dani, a Hardway Frontside 270 to Frontside Boardslide into the second part of the kink rail,” describes Migl.

After that it was on to the kickers. It was mostly the 16-18m table top that inspired the riders to get it on. Dani Limmer stomped the second Frontside 1080 of his life, and Christoph ‘Hetti’ Hetteger showed super stylish Backside spins of all kinds. Watch out for this guy! Everyone was pretty stoked on the smooth transitions and the safe construction of the obstacles – that’s the way they should be built! At the end of the shooting things turned really creative when Ralf Heeb asked himself “Why not jump over a snow cat?” No sooner said than done: You can see the result in the picture on the left.

What else is happening in Fiss? “Today it snowed ten to 20 centimeters – that means a lot of shoveling work for us. Next week we are going to change the medium line.” In short: Look forward to the gallery of the shooting, register fast for the Oberland Open on March 27 and enjoy your weekend – no matter if on the mountain or in the valley.
