Blimey, its only a month until Kaunertal’s Spring Classics gets underway. The weather has been a bit menstrual these last few weeks, chopping and changing it’s mind as and when it fancies and there’s just no reasoning with it. By mid February we were rolling around with half a tan on our faces and skipping through puddles on the way home from the hill, and now that it’s march we’re back to extra layers and down jackets. Huh, whatsupwiththat? If it weren’t for the afternoons getting longer, anyone could forgive us for wondering had we accidentally skipped a page on our calendars. And then along comes good old Kaunertal to remind us that spring first brings slushy park laps and before anyone worries about the end. Fear not, you gloves will soon have that familiar suncreamy barbecue stench we all know and love, until it festers in your board bag all summer long and won’t wash out in October. Here’s what Kaunertal’s got in store this time around:

From 13 April to 20 May 2013 the Snowpark Kaunertal opens its doors for the Spring Classics 2013. Over this period of five weeks the Spring Classics offer a top snow park and various funny events. Better be there!

You are up for varied creative lines, smooth obstacle landings and lots of sunshine? The Spring Classics are just around the corner. From 13 April 2013 to Whitmonday 20 May 2013 it is going to be a wild one at the Kaunertal Glacier. The snow park still offers a two pro kicker line, two medium kickers and 21 jib obstacles in total. Over five weeks the crew daily shapes and regularly rebuilds the park setup. Brand new at the Snowpark Kaunertal – from now on the whole park area owns free WiFi.

We always ramble about end of season and summer has arrived and whatnot, but judging from the current weather, snow conditions and press releases we are in for an endless winter. You don’t believe me? Well, you either just look out your window or read on about what’s going on up on the Kaunertal Glacier…

Powder. I told you.

On the weekend of May 8 and 9 HOTZONE.TV team manager Lars Oesterle and the up-and-coming riders Georg Huber, Tini Gruber and Thomas Tramnitz set out for the Kaunertal Glacier to check out the snowpark, which was all set for the Spring Classics.

One would expect sunshine and summer camp feeling on a May weekend up on the Kaunertal Glacier. But instead, the riders awaited snowfall and changing weather conditions. Lars Oesterle and the rookie team riders were even more amazed when the Kaunertal Glacier welcomed them with fresh powder on Saturday morning. In the afternoon, some motivated snowboarders fought flat light, snowfall, and the urge to get some more powder sprays in and had a lot of fun in the park, taking advantage of the free coaching sessions with the HOTZONE.TV snowboard pro team riders on the easy-line kickers and jib-line.

The next morning, the sight of a freshly shaped snowpark made everyone look forward to a great riding day. Not only the pipe was shining majestically in the sunlight. Together with some snowboarders who had travelled to the glacier from all directions, the HOTZONE.TV snowboard pro team riders had a great session on the kickers and showed their best 3´s, 7´s and 9´s.  The afternoon was all about shredding the rails. Motivated coaching students made their first boardslides and backside lipslides on the rails and boxes, while the snowfall was getting heavier. At the Kaunertal Glacier, the winter is not over, yet! At least this is what the HOTZONE.TV team riders agreed on when they went back home on Sunday night!

Four fun-packed weeks of Spring Classics are unfortunately over! That means no more park-action with hundreds of snowboarders enjoying style sessions, pro coachings, parties and much more. Here’s a review featuring all the highlights of the Spring Classics 2010.

The Spring Classics started off with a Snowboard contest. Numerous enthusiastic snowboarders arrived in Kaunertal, rocked the park and enjoyed the sun. The Spring Classics Masters were Bednarik Susanne and Helbock Joe, who in addition, received the prize for Best Trick.

The Kaunertal glacier park was nicely shaped throughout the 4 Weeks of Spring Classics and just begged each morning to be shredded. The park offered something for everybody, from amateurs to pros. The perfectly shaped kickers, ranging from 5 m to 17.5 m, the diverse obstacles with the C-Down-Box, Jib-Bounce-Tonne, Bonktree, Industrial Pipe, Stiffy and much more left nothing more to be desired.

A highlight was the Pleasure Week. Snow enthusiasts could enjoy a solid BBQ and at the stylesessions, the photoshooting and the parties the boys and girls got the chance to show their potential. In addition, snowboarders had the opportunity to enjoy a free Pro Coaching by Tini Gruber, Lars Oesterle, Georg Huber and Thomas Tramnitz from HOTZONE.TV.

The annual “Butter bei die Fische” Session marked the end of this season’s Spring Classics. Despite the bad weather conditions, people were in a great mood. Great tricks, slams or freaky outfits were rewarded with cash, which of course made everyone smile. No wonder they had a good time anyway.

Those who didn’t get anything up on the glacier could try their luck down in the valley at the legendary soccer tournament.

Although the weather was not always the best, the past 4 weeks of Spring Classics 2010 were once more an action-packed finale of the this year’s winter season.

Now you can just enjoy summer and look forward to the KTO 2010!!

Spring Classics Kaunertal 2010: 17.04. – 16.05.2010

A huge park, contests, media weeks and powder … everything a shredder’s heart is longing for is set at the Spring Classics in the Kaunertal!

Mid-April, snowboard contests – the park’s in shape! End of April, media crews are storming the Kaunertal – the park’s in shape! Beginning of May, bad weather brings fresh pow – the park’s in shape! And that goes for the remaining time of the Spring Classics too and therefore guarantees an unforgettable season finale of this year’s winter time.

All the riders, who were at the Kaunertal within the last few weeks to enjoy the park action before summer’s arriving, already know what the massive park has to offer – all of those, who haven’t yet been there, should immediately grab their stuff and get to the Spring Classics as there is lots to shred, hit or bonk:

A diverse setup for every riding level offers classic as well as creative and playful obstacles to improve the shred-skills. Besides easy kickers with 5-7 meters tables and boxes for beginners, there are also big take-offs and rails for the pros. The double kicker combo with its different take-offs, has just been rebuilt to challenge the riders even more. The park offers to ride lots of hits in one line and of course is being reshaped each day.

Entertainment-wise the Spring Classics still have some highlights to offer in the last two weeks:

On 8th and 9th May all motivated snowboarders can get tricks and tips at the free HOTZONE.TV Snowboard Pro Coaching when Tini Gruber, Lars Oesterle, Georg Huber and Thomas Tramnitz will showing their moves.

At the final Spring Classics weekend we bring you again the “Butter bei die Fische” session and reward cool tricks, stylish landings or a freaky outfits with cash. And those shredders who couldn’t show theirs skill on the mountain will still get a chance to demonstrate their sportiness at the soccer tournament in the valley.

After Hintertux action we packed our stuff and headed for the second stop of Snowbroader Spring Trip, Fendels ski areas, more exactly the Kaunertal Glacier, where Spring Classics just got good started! And this is already for the seventh time! Schneestern crew, who made park again, proved that they know how to make magic out of metal and snow. Welcome to the Spring Classics 2010 on Kaunertal…

Just one hour driving from Innsbruck you can catch a sight of the glaciated peak of Weißseespitze, the symbol of the Tyrolean Kaunertal Valley! Whilst in April most of the winter resorts are closing down due to lack of snow, the Kaunertal Glacier is just about to present itself in perfect conditions to all snowboarders with Spring Classics entertainment.

Here you will find the park and happening that you are looking for! The park is daily taken care of  by the Schneestern crew, so that everything is shaped into perfection. The lines are set perfectly, with just enough time between objects. The park is build in a way that all levels of riding can get satisfaction: beginner, medium and pro line gives you more pleasure that you can handle.

The perfectly shaped park throughout the Spring Classics is offering monster kicker, pro-kickerline, easy-kickerline, superpipe and mini shred, which is not as mini as they are saying (want to see how the set up looks like??? Click HERE). We could claim that the set-up on Kaunertal is one of the biggest Snowpark in Austria. So hitting this park is a perfect way of concluding the winter season before jumping into board shorts.

After last year’s successful European Summer Camps Tour, Medo and the SnowBroader Crew are hitting the Spring Parks yet again with a nice tour around some of the best spots in the Alps! The plan is to start in Hintertux to cover The Grand Final of the Quiksilver Wir Schanzen 2010! We will be streaming LIVE video from the event so make sure to check us out!

Then it’s off to Kaunertal for the Spring Classics 2010! Since Saturday 17th April, the Spring Classics 2010 have officially begun and nothing more stands in the way to enjoy the massive park at the Kaunertal till mid of May. So we will be there also to deliver reports of all the action happening there!

It will then be time to hit the road for Stubai. There we have some crazy plans with the Stubaizoo…more on this later!

Finally we will cross the Alps and the Italian border to pay a visit to our Bros in Val Senales and then Livigno!

The Spring Classics 2010 on the Kaunertal glacier officially started off with the welcome contest last Saturday, April 17th.

Hundreds of excited riders gathered on the Kaunertal glacier last weekend for the opening contest. With 180 cm of snow the park was in perfect shape and the contenders showed their best tricks on the various obstacles. Their efforts weren’t only rewarded with great prizes but also blazing sun and blue bird skies – what’s a better motivator for hitting the kicker double combo than this?

After a training session the snowboarders impressed the judges with FS 720s, Rodeos, Flips and all sorts of other tricks. Performing outstandingly all the long it was Helbock Joe and Susanne Bednarik, who grabbed the title of Spring Classics Masters this year.

This was only the beginning though, there’s still a lot of goodness waiting to go down at the Spring Classics until the glacier will finally be closed in May:

Though winter’s in full swing you might want to have a think about where you’ll get your shred on when spring kicks in… and one of the best places to do so is the Kaunertal glacier where the 7th Spring Classics will be going down.

There’s gonna be a massive park set-up for pros as well as amateurs, powder in the backcountry, bluebird skies, parties and heaps of side events on the glacier as well as down in the valley… it’s the perfect opportunity to say farewell to wintertime with a grin on your face.

This year’s program not only includes renowned highlights like the freeski and snowboard contests, media weeks, Butter bei dir Fische session and the soccer tournament but also introduces the first-time ‘film & photo week’ which will be taking place from May 3rd til 9th 2010!
