One to rule them all – 100% STANTON PARK
Several tons of finest snow, thousands hours of work, hundreds of pounds of metal and plastic, countless cans of energy drinks and way to little sleep – but the result is nothing to sneeze at! The STANTON PARK is finally complete and is showing itself at its best! A total of 4 areas bring the shred fun onto the next level and leaves nothing left to be desired! What that looks like can be seen in the sweet video edit and the gallery we’ve compiled for you!

<img class="size-full wp-image-46921" alt="David Loibl getting a press on in Stanton Park.
The STANTON PARK impresses with altogether 28 obstacles this year, and these fellas will put a smile to the faces of even the most demanding shredheadz among you. Park designer Rene Friedl and his shape crew have once again dug out quite some surprises from their obstacle box and taken with them to the Arlberg. For all rookies and future pros, the Kids Park and Beginner Area have pretty much to offer – training possibilities en masse! The Medium Area consists mostly of rails and tubes and becomes thus a real paradise for all jibbers. But also the airtime nerds will get their money’s worth since four kickers with tables between 5 and 8 meters spoil you with more than enough jump material. In the Pro Area, you can put the final touch to your skills: a straight tube, two kickers with 12 and 15 meters and a massive wallride at the end of the park will provide for finest shred action.

Sounds too good to be true? Well, good thing that Rene and his team are not that easily satisfied and invited a bunch of snowboard and freeski nuts to a little “park finished” session at the STANTON PARK to put the final setup to the shredability test. The snowboarders David Loibl, Daniel Erhart and Markus Wilhelmi followed the invitation to take a closer look at the STANTON PARK. After extensive sessions on kickers, boxes and rails, the riders unanimously came to the same satisfying conclusion: the park rocks! Naturally, such a resume was music to the ears of park designer Rene Friedl. After the session, we grabbed our chief in charge for a little interview and asked him about “his” STANTON PARK.

<img class="size-full wp-image-46920" alt="Daniel Erhart. Hi Rene! How was the Park Finished Shooting? Did everything go according to plan?
Yes, everything was perfect, we we’re really lucky with the weather. The weather forecast predicted bad conditions but we had a fine three hours of bluebird and the riders had their fun.
Are you happy with your work?
It is pretty good, my park, indeed.
What has changed with regard to last year? Do you like to stay with the tried and trusted or do you try to create the park anew every season?
The tried and trusted is of course always a way to go but we’ve got a few new obstacles this year and changed quite a bit actually. The up rail, that is the canon rail, is one of these new obstacles and the riders really like it and shred it all day long.

And again, Daniel Erhardt shot by Katja Pokorn/QParks.

Where do you get your ideas for a new setup?
From everywhere, from other parks, my guys, my shapers, literally everywhere.
You’ve been at the Arlberg quite a while now. What makes the STANTON PARK so special?
Certainly the park lift that is just as long as the park itself. Thus you can do a lot of runs in short period of time. For example, if it’s not too busy in the park, and you get to do your runs, then you’re done after two hours since one run takes you just as long as the lift ride.
Do you have the freedom as park designer to give free rein to your creativity or do you have to follow certain guidelines?
There are certain guidelines of course, like making certain jumps not higher than they’re supposed to. You’re also a little restricted when it comes to earth movements, which has a positive side though since you don’t need as much snow.
What is your personal highlight at the STANTON PARK?
My personal highlight is definitely the pro line. If I had to decide for a single obstacle, it would probably be the big kicker – but I really like everything in the park.
How has the scene developed over the years? Have the rider’s demands on the setup grown over the years?
Yes, definitely, I would say so. Especially with regard to the local scene and the guys that were still too young four years ago and are now in the park on a regular basis. They often approach me with new ideas and recommendations, and I always appreciate new input.
What does your ideal park look like?
My ideal snowpark offers something for everyone, especially with regard to kickers, rails and boxes. It should also have something in stock for kids and riders of all levels.

<img class="size-full wp-image-46918" alt="Daniel Erhardt hitting the wallride. Photo: Katja Pokorn/QParks

As you can see, the STANTON PARK is in capable hands that make sure that the park is always in neat condition. Best to assure yourself in person and put the new setup to your own quality inspection. To get you in the right mood and set you straight on what to look for exactly, we’ve compiled a sweet video edit, in which the boss introduces his park and the setup for all snowboard nerds out there. Of course we also don’t want you to miss out on the best shots of the day so we’ve put together a neat gallery for you.

The Stanton park opened its doors and a bunch of dudes were on hand to give it a good seeing to on Christmas Day. Check the edit…

Rene Friedl established a first Stanton park set up right after Christmas and many riders responded to his call out to come shred: Thomas Feuerstein, Sebi Geiger and many others showed up to throw down.

The stanton park will definitely be on point again this season. Rene Friedl and his crew already draw the lines for another creative and fluid set up that will blow everyones minds!

STANTON Park: Powder Paradise with Arena Flair

The feeling of a big arena in front of breath-taking scenery coupled with a most innovative park design – once a true insiders’ tip, the STANTON Park has established itself as a true freestyle highlight over the last few seasons. So, if you not only want to enjoy endless powder runs, but are also looking for a masterly shaped setup, the STANTON Park is your place to be!
Winter is coming closer and just like last season the STANTON Park is getting ready for once again becoming the perfect playground for the freestyle community. The park-areal is perfectly accessible with two lifts, which means you can do loads of runs within a short time and literally shred till you drop! But the connection to the lifts isn’t the only thing making the location of the park perfect. For all of you who want to watch what’s going on in the park in a little more laid back manner, the Rendl terrace with its bars and restaurants will give you the perfect opportunity to chill and observe the pros doing their tricks. That’s also one of the aspects park designer Rene Friedl likes about the park: “From the huge terrace you’ve got a perfect view on what’s going on in the park – an absolutely phat location!”
4 Lines – 1 Mission: SHRED OR GO HOME

The crew headed by park designer Rene Friedl has put their heads together and will pull another spectacular park out of their sleeves this year. With an incredible diversity of lines and elements, this year’s setup knows how to impress riders at all skill levels: the beginner area offers numerous jumps and boxes for the young bloods. But also pro-riders will get their money’s worth with massive 12 – 14m jumps which guarantee airtime at its best. This winter’s setup will also see several novelties: the beginner area may look forward to a new 9m elephant box, the medium area will be extended by a 10m flat/down/flat box and in the advanced area, an 8m down/flat rail, a rainbow tube and a jump tube are only waiting to be shredded properly. With a total of 32 elements over a length of 320m, the STANTON PARK provides for tons of action and shred fun!

Let the Plays Begin!

Due to creative park elements and the unique arena-like feeling, the STANTON Park is a superlative contest location. Last season, at the legendary Kirschbaum Battle, the Freestyle Challenge was proclaimed, summoning not only local heroes from the snowboard and freeski scenes. More than 70 riders as well as countless freestyle fans met in a perfectly shaped STANTON Park, where it was ‘eat or get eaten’ – the riders stopped at nothing! Afterwards, however, everyone was partying together – as is the custom in the freestyle community. Rumours already exist that we’ll see another edition of the Kirschbaum Battle in the upcoming season!

The Stanton Park St Anton is a great snow park in Western Austria. QParks have compiled this short best-of-last-season-video for all of us.

Not to be confused with its namesake in Washington DC the Stanton Park St Anton is a great snow park in Western Austria. QParks have compiled this short best-of-last-season-video, and thrown in an interview with the head shaper on the upcoming new season…

Benni Hopfgartner, Stantonpark, photo: Roland Haschka / QParks

STANTON Park: a Golden Outlook to the New Season

This season, tons of highlights are waiting for all freestylers in the STANTON Park! O’Neill is the new park sponsor, March will once again see a QParks Tour Stop – the legendary “O’Neill Kirschbaum Battle” and the park area will be extended. In order to make the long wait for the new season little more bearable, we’ve put some icing on the cake: an interview with parkdesigner Renè Friedl and the Goldie clips of last season for the cherry on top!

In the Goldies, we can see the best of what the STANTON Park had to offer last season. At the shootings, tons of action and massive tricks were caught on tape.

What are Goldies?

But we really want to know what the NEW season brings – Parkdesigner Renè told us what we can look forward to this winter:

Hey Rene! Only a few weeks from now, the STANTON Park will see a new freestyle season after its long summer break. What would you say was last season’s highlight and what are you looking forward to most for the coming winter?

Hmmm… good question. To me personally, the highlight was the fact that we managed to have the setup completed already at the beginning of the season (meaning around Christmas), so we had a complete park at an early stage. Personally, I’m simply looking forward to a massive winter season – lots of snow, no accidents and tons of fun!

What’s new in the STANTON Park?

During the summer we optimized the terrain in the park and we’re sure to have the one or other new obstacle – but I don’t want to give it all away just yet.

As a parkdesigner, of course you and your team know the area best. But how frequently do you yourself shred in the park? Which element do you like best? I shred in the park quite often and I like all of it, actually, but the M-Kickerline is really fun!

Having a job as parkdesigner sure demands a lot of creativity. Where do you get your inspiration from? Just about everywhere, no matter if it’s a day on the mountain or in the valley with friends, whether I’m sitting on the loo or lie in bed! I can become inspired just about anywhere!

This year, O’Neill will be the new sponsor of the STANTON Park and we’re already looking forward to the legendary O’Neill Kirschbaum Battle. What can people expect from an event like this? I think from the O’Neill Kirschbaum Battle people will expect a two-day contest with a laid- back atmosphere and good riders where shredding technique is concerned. I’m really looking

forward to that, too!

The QParks Tour is an international freestyle tour for snowboarders and freeskiers with the chance to win 60,000 € of prize money which taking place in 11 snowparks. This year, O’Neill will sponsor the STANTON Park and we’re alreadylooking forward to the 17th and 18th of March 2012, when the legendary “O’Neill Kirschbaum Battle” will rock the park! What can people expect from this event? A two-day contest with a laid-back atmosphere and good riders and, of course, partying galore! I’m really looking forwad to it!
