In this 5th episode of Cooking with Gas, the Finnish triumvirate of awesome get stalked by the greybird in France and at a junkyard jib session back home, before finally scoring bluebird in Talma. Good old Talma.

TTR Tour Champ Peetu Piiroinen finally got himself off the contest merry-go-round and headed home to Finland where he hooked up with Heikki Sorsa for a fun as hell day on the Talma glacier.

Funtimes in Talma with two of Finland’s finest? Oh hell yes. Peetu even manages to ride his first powder kicker and is now officially over contests. Heheh…

Scandinavia remained the place to be for the sixth tour stop of the Nike 6.0 Stairset Battle Tour on January 15th, 2011 at Talma resort in Finland. Despite some of the most rugged conditions of the tour and record low temperatures of – 23°C, a total of 45 competitors came to battle it out in front of more than 600 spectators.

Despite sunshine and clear blue Scandinavian skies, parts of the park – including the Stair Set – remained in the shadows all day, which meant hard-as-concrete ice all along the downhill run.

Whilst the previous tour stop in Norway had already given a preview of the high level of jib talent in the region, rippers in Finland did not disappoint. Riders were throwing down 360s both ways, next to numerous technical rail tricks.

In the end, a young ripper from Russia by the name of Denis Leontyev stole the show by taking things to a whole new level. In the finals, where riders need to throw down their best two banging tricks, Denis unleashed more than half a dozen banging moves on the stair set, including BS 450 to Boardslide, FS 360 to 50-50 180 out, FS Blunt 270 Tailpress, FS Blunt 270 Tailpress 180 out, and Switch BS 180 to 50-50 BS 180 Revert. Hard enough to type, let alone pull off.

Everyone agreed that Denis had ended up 1st well deserved. On his way home he takes along a Ticket to the Final of the Tour at Nike 6.0 Air & Style 2011 in Munich, February 12th 2011.

We wait with baited breath for the upcoming tricks and highlights at the next battles, while the roster of heavy rippers for the Grand Finale of the tour keeps growing to epic proportions.

The Pirates will be dropping the teaser for their latest movie, Hooked, in a couple of weeks (hopefully by the second week of July) so to get you pumped we’re bringing you two webisodes each day this week.

We kick off a week of Pirate-flavoured content with two shorts of  Teo Konttinen - one with him and fellow Finnish Pirate Juuso Laivisto tearing up Talma and urban jibbing in one day, and another of mini Teo ripping up the streets as a 14-year-old buck. Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum, shivver me timbers, aaargh, etc.
