Our second, hammer-filled issue of the season hits stores today that will have you frothing to strap in like a rabid wolf. Peek at what’s in issue 132…

DYLAN THOMPSON INTERVIEW

It’s fair to say that Dylan Thompson’s something of an enigma here in Europe but one thing’s certain: his riding’s anything but low-key. After successive, mindblowing urban assaults in FODT’s recent movies we decided to give Dylan the exposure his riding deserves.

KAZAKHSTAN

Last winter our French ed embarked on a journey east with Morgan Lefaucheur and his Almo Films crew. Their destination? Kazakhstan. Going low on the Borat-gags an high on culture, the boys scored the goods and slashed and jibbed the old Soviet state’s impressive mountains and monuments.

GIGI & FICHTL SCORE PERFECT MONTAFON

An early-season dump in the Montafon meant the Pirates crew got off to a sterling start shooting for UNIQUE8. Regional homeboys Gigi Rüf and Marco Feichtner took full advantage of the tit-deep conditions for the lens of Jerome Tanon.

STANDARD FILMS 2112 GALLERY

The legendary Standard Films crew drop in with their 21st snowboard movie this season, entitled 2112. With a host of heavy hitters you can bet this will get your love bus rocking, and we’ve assembled a gallery of bangers from their time shooting.

PLUS

Our Ed in Chief bounces across the pond for the opening of Forum’s The Streets park, we throw a spotlight on the rookies who lit up our Send Off Session, chat Britain with Jamie Nicholls, present some of the finest outerwear around… and there’s even more.

Onboard issue 132 is on sale now at all fine core stores and newsagents so pop down and nab yours. Better still, subscribe to Onboard, bag some free swag and never miss an issue.

As we informed you the other day, Forum’s The Streets park opened last week with an abundance of pros and media making the pilgrimmage to check this innovative rail park setup. Now the Forum guys have dropped an edit of the haps and… well, let’s just say the setup is fully off the chain. Watch this.

The Streets, Forum’s next level in ‘terrain park’, is getting set to open its doors in the resort of Seven Springs, Pennsylvania today.

<img class="size-full wp-image-37004" title="austin.sevensprings.wall" src="http://cdn1.coresites.mpora.com/onboard/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/austin.sevensprings.wall_.jpg" alt="Austen Sweetin at a Seven Springs Wall.
The Streets, Forum’s next level in ‘terrain park’, is getting set to open its doors in the resort of Seven Springs, Pennsylvania today.

The US is suffering a drought on snow at the moment, with the notable exception of Alaska. But while city jibbers nation-wide twiddle their thumbs until winter hits their streets, Forum has take their Streets to winter.

In the resort of Seven Springs, Pennsylvania Forum and a committed crew of shapers have laboured six-day weeks for three months to recreated the best of urban features on snow. Inspired by Pat Moore and Nic Sauvé this surreal cityscape includes marble hubbas, concrete ledges, straight and kinked stair sets, a creeper, roof gaps to walls, a bus stop, stoppers to drops and a wall ride ender. This is no rail garden or collection of boxes, this is a jibber’s wet dream, where the snow is on point every day and there ain’t no bust factor.

So if you are in the American North East today, the 19th of January, head for Seven Springs, and watch as the likes of Austen Sweetin, Cameron Pierce, Mario Kaeppeli, Nic Sauve, Niko Cioffi, Pat Moore and Stevie Bell knock seven shades out of The Streets. If you can’t make it tomorrow, fear not as the park will be open to the public all season long.

Our ed-in-chief will be on-site, and we all think this is a sick idea. Check it out!

Changing the game of urban snowboarding, Forum is proud to present The Streets at Seven Springs – a park dedicated to urban snowboarding, featuring an on-mountain replica of urban riding at its best. Pulling inspiration from the surrounding area of Pittsburgh, while working in conjunction with Forum Team riders Pat Moore and Nic Sauvé along with the park building masters from Seven Springs (USA), The Streets brings a whole new meaning to urban snowboarding.

“The Streets is taking the concept of what a snowpark should be to a whole new level,” says Nic Sauvé. “I envy the kids who will grow up riding it!” Pat Moore adds, “The park looks so sick. I’m excited for the snow to come to bring it to life! I think we’ll be seeing some real good snowboarders coming out of PA in the near future.”

Urban snowboarding is supposed to be fun and accessible, but when you have angry security guards, passing cars or just can’t find the right features, your ability to actually enjoy it becomes limited. This is where The Streets comes in. The Streets offers a wide array of rails, ledges, gaps and wall rides, all built with the look and feel of riding in your local town.

“Being able to bring this level of urban features to a full access resort is something we used to only dream of,” says Forum Brand Manager Kevin Winkel. “The features that Pat and Nic have designed with Seven Springs and Snow Park Technologies will forever change how resorts look at building parks.”

Since 2004, Seven Springs in Pennsylvania/USA has been committed to developing and growing its terrain parks. In addition to the already six parks and more than 70 features, The Streets is to be the most innovative urban setup created. “We are really excited to be partnering with Forum on The Streets,” said Joel Rerko, Seven Springs’ Director of Action Sports. “Seven Springs is committed to providing the best parks and pipes in the country, and this is a great addition to our already solid program. Our region is a perfect fit for this style of park and I know The Streets will help progress the riders of the lower East Coast.” Due to its hard work and dedication towards these efforts, Seven Springs has been nationally recognized as the 2011-2012 number one terrain park on the East Coast.

Assisting with the building and development of the features for The Streets is Snow Park Technologies (SPT). SPT is the world’s leading consulting team for special projects on snow and is comprised of an all-star crew whose passion and commitment give SPT its greatest strength. Their focus is on the design, construction, and progression of all areas related to terrain park development. This is a collection of the most experienced and talented freestyle park and pipe innovators in the world who are excited to see the outcome of working on the game-changing project, The Streets.

The Grand Opening of The Streets kicks off January 19th, 2012.

The Streets is found just off The Polar Bear Express Chairlift at Seven Springs Resort in Pennsylvania.
