Our friends from twoleftfeet.ch sent us this video and kindly ask us to post something about it. It is a recap of the Swiss Snowboard Championships 2010 in Zermatt, which went down on 10 and 11 September. It contains a lot of nice slopestyle riding in one of the most scenic European resorts. So why shouldn’t we post it? Unfortunately, we could not find any women’s results, but here’s who won the men’s comps:

Summer Shredding with the Shaba Cru

Being based in Munich at the beginning of the season we tend turn a lot of our attention towards the Tyrolean mountains, for example the Hintertux Glacier. But there are quite a few more options to get some pre-season shred on… take Zermatt, for example!

Zermatt turned gangsta when on 1 August 2010 the Shaba Cru slayed the rails of the Gravity Park.

Summer Shred Guide – Zermatt

We stay in Switzerland for the latest Summer Shred Guide, taking a look at the goods the guys in the Gravity Park will pull together from July.

Zermatt

[excuse some of the two-planking but this gives you a good idea of last year’s setup]

Hop a valley west from Saas-Fee and you’re in Zermatt, sat staring straight on at the giant pyramid of granite that’s the Matterhorn. Get on the glacier and head for the Plateau Rosa which opens from 10 July and you’ll be able to get involved with the Gravity Park, shaped daily by a team of five savvy snowboarders. With booters from 2 to 20m, you ain’t got no excuses not to have honed your freestyling after a stint in Zermatt and should you want to go for a burn there’s 25k of runs to butter. Sadly the Stoked Summer Camps are no more, but simply hook yourself up with a hot local milk maiden and you’ll just have to shell out for the day pass, which is a cool 78 CHF.
