The show may have finished last night, but we’ve still got a small mountain of digital snaps of the freshest 2011/12 snowboard product that stoked us out at this year’s snowboard tradeshow in Munich. For the weekend of January 22nd and 23rd, 2011 the halfpipe in Davos is reserved for the snowboard youngstars only: Junior Open Davos 2011 is on!

After the sick battle we witnessed in Mid-December at the Junior Open in Laax, we are curious about what we will get to see at the Bolgen, Jakobshorn in Davos soon. Starting with qualifications on Saturday, the big finals will happen on Sunday. Everyone under 20 is welcome to drop in. This year the Junior Open events are part of the TTR World Snowboard Tour and of the Audi Swiss Snow Series. A total prize money of CHF 3000.- is waiting for the winners. It’s worth coming up to Davos anyway; to compete in a top-class line-up or just to watch the show featured by the next generation of snowboarding.

Despite heavy conditions (strong winds, super icy pipe and fog), the kids put up a real nice battle for the Iceripper Junior Open in Laax last weekend.

Taking the conditions into account, the riding level was really impressive with lots of airtime from the boys and girls and technical as well stylish tricks. Zimtstern rider Clemens Schattschneider was one of the style masters, starting his run with a high and clean lien air followed by a backside 540, a frontside 720, a sick haakon flip 720, finishing with a frontside 540° and ended up 3rd. He had to leave the top of the U20 podium to his Austrian buddy Mathias Weissenbacher and the Swiss upspring Jan Scherrer.

In the U16 boys category Linus Birkendahl, was faced with his strongest rivals, 2 of the greatest newcomers in snowboarding: Tim-Kevin Ravnjak from Slovenia and David Hablützel from Switzerland. After an incredibly rad run Linus won the qualifications. In the finals he came third behind the Swiss and the Slovenian.

For the women there was no age limit and so Helene Nadig could proof her skills in the field of the young girls.
She came 2nd in the sandwich between the French power ladies, Clémence Grimal and Emma Bernard in the women’s elite category.

The Junior Open events are part of the TTR world tour as well as of the Swiss snowboard series and the riders took home a total prize money of 3000.- CHF as well as some nice Zimtstern gear.

Only a few more days until the showdown starts on the Crap Sogn Gion and the youngbloods will battle it out on the superpipe in Laax on December 11th & 12th!

His older brother, Jeff has a distinct description for his style: „clean and prissiest: Backcountry knowledge mixed with a bit of Seymour ghettoness“. Damon Pyett from Coastal Riders describes his personality: “Brendan is a leader, when he is in your crew shit gets done. He knows when it’s go time!“ – That’s our man we thought. “As there was no Italian horse in the Zimtstern stable for quite a while, the Swiss brand is happy to announce the Italian young gun to the team.

Plazy is well known for his calm and professional personality and his smooth style. The tall Italian kills all the rails and loves massive powder kickers. He belongs to the heart of the Italian snowboard community and goes filming with the “Random“ video production crew who just released their 2010 movie “Too much too serious“. If he is not shooting for the movie somewhere around Italy, Plazy and his Fakieshop team buddies are spending their season shredding the parks of Val Senales and Alpe di Siusi, back home in South Tyrol.”
