Nick Visconti Wins Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails

09:40AM Wed, 22nd September 2010

Bear Mountain’s Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails might be a small competition and it goes down in a place far, far away, but if one of our scene’s darlings wins and his board sponsor even sends out a cool video of his success we deem this worthy enough for our website. Besides the fact that Nick Visconti is a sick rider. But let’s hear his sponsor out:

Arbor Snowboards is proud to announce that international team rider, Nick Visconti has won Bear Mountain’s Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails 2010. Visconti went up against some of North America’s top professional rail riders, including several past winners, on his way to victory. “I felt like I rode hard and landed progressive and creative tricks on each feature,” says Nick Visconti. “The level of riding was amazing. Literally on another level. Any one of the competitors could have taken first because everyone was destroying it.”

Visconti landed his tricks with style and pulled some unconventional crowd pleasers like his 5-0 through the Red Bull planter box to front flip out, a couple of one-footer wall-ride variations and his patented tuck-knee boardslide. “Nick seemed incredibly determined from the beginning, but kept it loose with some fun variations,” says Arbor marketing and team manager, Brad Farmer. “He was landing trick after trick on all of the features with his creative combos and the one footers…he just killed it.”

More than 6,000 people showed up to see some of the best professional snowboarders compete in the world’s largest pre-season snowboarding event. The rider list was stacked and some serious riding was on display as competitors battled it out for a $20,000 cash purse. “Not only were there thousands of people critiquing my every move, but there were 35 phenomenal snowboarders competing against me?not to mention the world’s best snowboarder judges.” Visconti took home $7500 cash when HDHR judges JP Walker, Seth Huot, Nima Jalali, Johnny Miller and Joey Sexton confirmed his win. “I’m just stoked there were great vibes, tons of sun rays, beautiful babes and lots of friends all celebrating snowboarding,” says Visconti.

Arbor signed on as Bear Mountain’s official snowboard sponsor just before the event and Visconti’s win helped them seal the deal. “This pre-season win combined with his ridiculous opening part in Think Thank’s new movie is an amazing way for Nick to start off what is sure to be a wild year…the kind of wild only Nicki Fresh can make happen,” adds Farmer.
