If you like art to have a boardsports-flavoured tang then check this slick video of the recent Nixon Art Mosh in Munich.
Nixon’s inaugural Art Mosh of 2012 was met with much eagerness and full capacity crowds in the Bavarian capital of Munich this past January 29th and 30th. For two nights, the worlds of surf, skate, snow, art, music and culture collided for a gallery-style, pop-up exhibition. Nixon’s Art Mosh, now in it’s fifthyear, is a global traveling art and music project which features original work from Nixon artists, friends, team riders and a showcase devoted to the artwork of local area artists.
Held in the popular urban gem of Praterinsel located in the middle of the Isar River, an extraordinary location in between the Maximilianeum and the Deutsches Museum. The unique atmosphere created through the fusion of modern outlook and historic ambiance offered the perfect framework for this 2-night only art and music experience.
This stop of the Art Mosh was all about the blending of artists and talents from various medias – painting, photography, design, sculpture, music, and urban art. Showcasing a strong contingent of emerging and established talent in the fields of art and music, including influential artists from Germany such as C100, SatOne and Thesigner. The Nixon Art Mosh was as eclectic as the group of artists and people attending the event. There was a refreshing mix of collectors, artists, fashion ambassadors, riders, representatives of the board sports industry and media.
One of the highlights of the exhibition was a live painting session featuring the Munich residents C100, Thesigner and SatOne. While putting on an entertaining show, they gave some valuable insights into their different styles and techniques to a thrilled audience.
On both nights, DJ Kutmah and London based visual artist Mox were on hand to launch a fusion of great tunes and an animated background, uniting musical artistry and innovation. Kutmah, originally from Los Angeles, is known for his affiliation with Low End Theory, Brainfeeder and Stone Throw. The Nixon Art Mosh was the premiereof his collaboration with designer, creative director and moving-image maker and producer Mox, who has been working at the vanguard of audio and visual culture for over 12 years.
